Centrum pokročilých leteckých technologií (CAAT) je vědecký projekt s cílem výzkumu simulace degradačních procesů jednotlivých komponent a jejich vlivu na funkčnost motorů a konstrukcí letadel. Kromě pozorování je jeho součástí také experimentální vývoj součástí nového turbovrtulového motoru a jeho kompletace do funkčního celku ve výkonové kategorii dosahující parametrů, kterými předčí motory současné koncepce. Cílem CAAT bude také zkoumat využití nových materiálů a postupů výroby, montáže a údržby komponent a celků leteckých motorů a konstrukcí.

Pro efektivní fungování náročných CAE aplikací (aplikace pro simulaci fluidní dynamiky) bylo potřeba vybudovat výzkumně-vývojovou základnu postavenou na výkonném výpočetním clusteru založeném na dvou typech uzlů. Vedení CAAT proto vypsalo veřejnou zakázku s cílem najít dodavatele, který by dokázal nabídnout ucelené řešení: Tj. cluster, včetně montáže, instalace a konfigurace softwaru, zprovoznění a následná správa a servis. Vítězem zakázky se stala společnost M Computers, která splnila všechny podmínky soutěže.

Zapojení a uvedení do provozu
Cluster po dodání fyzici implementovali čtyři technici po dobu dvou dnů. Do stávajících a nových racků v datovém sále museli rozložit hardware tak, aby optimálně rozložili zátěž na napájení a chlazení. Celkem obsadili tři rackové skříně. Nainstalován byl i software dle požadavků CAAT: Ansys Fluent a CFX, AVL Fire a Dessault Systemes Abaqus. Součástí implementace byl i aplikační test (byly využity nástroje HPL Linpack, AVL Fire, Ansys Fluent, Iozone) pro potvrzení výkonu, který byl součásti kritérií pro výběr nejlepšího řešení. To se podařilo a řešení bylo v pořádku předáno CAAT do užívání.
