V roce 2016 stálo vedení Psychiatrické léčebny Štemberk před rozhodnutím ohledně dalšího rozvoje IT infrastruktury. Z technického pohledu šlo o klasickou podnikovou síť: Servery, storage, sítě – vše pořizované postupně během let a na hranici kapacity, životnosti nebo podpory. Bylo potřeba rozhodnout, zda stávající řešení postupně obměnit a připravit na rozšíření v případě zvýšení nároků na IT – nebo se vydat úplně novým směrem, nahradit stávající infrastrukturu hyperkonvergovaným řešením.

Hyperkonvergovaná infrastruktura (HCI) představuje moderní přístup k firemní infrastruktuře. Jde o ucelené řešení poskytující výpočetní výkon spolu s datovou kapacitou při použití efektivních nástrojů pro jednoduchou správu a nasazení. Jde v podstatě o all-in-one řešení: Co dříve vyžadovalo výkonnou serverovnu, chlazení a tým správců, to správci vyřeší několika multifunkčními boxy.

Princip HCI spočívá v masivní virtualizaci hardwaru, která zjednodušuje nasazení i následnou správu. Správcům tak odpadá práce s rozdělováním funkcí jednotlivých serverů, datových úložišť a síťových prvků. Ve světě hyperkonvergence je vše softwarově definované, jednotně administrované, maximálně škálovatelné a výrazně snižuje náklady na provoz (TCO). Centrální administrace navíc výrazně sníží složitost struktury hardwaru.

Po úspěšném výběrovém řízení, ve kterém M Computers a jeho návrh HCI řešení zvítězil, došlo k samotnému nasazení. To proběhlo podle domluveného plánu, kdy za asistence odborníků z M Computers a Lenova došlo k postupnému odpojení starého hardwaru, a nasazení a konfiguraci nového řešení. Celý postup proběhl dle stanového plánu i harmonogramu, virtuální prostředí je intuitivní a administrátoři psychiatrické léčebny neměli problém s jeho ovládnutím. Ve spolupráci s M Computers pak prostředí řešení přizpůsobili svým požadavkům a potřebám.
